On Ash Wednesday at this special service we receive a cross marked on our foreheads as a sign of repentance as we begin the period in the Church’s year called Lent. We offer ourselves anew to the Lord as we seek his forgiveness and prepare our hearts to be ready for the gratitude we experience at the Crucifixion and the joy of the risen Jesus at Easter.
