Families from Christ Church Downend went off for a day out together in June and we found sunshine and had lots of fun. On the same day that the Party @ Page Park was cancelled because of the rain, our intrepid group set out to have fun anyway and ended up with a dry day with a sunny bbq and a campfire at the end to toast marshmallows. The day started out with den building and stream dipping, almost all of us stayed dry for that bit! Then after a picnic lunch we all headed out to the hills for a gentle stroll together among bracken, heathers, foxgloves & ponies. Grandparents joined in with the families at Phil and Kathy’s farm. “This is the fourth year that we have had our Family Forest Day, it’s a fantastic way for families to escape the city, ditch the gadgets & get close to nature. I’m sure we will go back next year, as long as the farmers Phil and Kathy can host us,” Helen Buick Children’s Leader at Christ Church.
