We are so thankful that places of worship across the nation are going to be allowed to open their doors for individual prayer from Monday 15th June. The guidance now also includes permission to hold funerals in church, all under the social distancing regulations of course. We are still awaiting news on weddings.
Therefore, Christ Church will be able to welcome people from Monday to Friday between the hours of 2.30-4.30pm and 7-9pm to come into the main body of the building to enjoy a time of stillness and reflection. You don’t need to book a time, but if there are more people than 8 people at any one time you will be asked to wait to come in. As well as two chairs near the altar there will be prayer stations or areas of focus with a couple of chairs two metres apart. We will also construct a simple labyrinth in the centre through which one person at a time can ‘journey’. If we are at maximum capacity we are asking that each person limits their time in church to 30 minutes. There will be one toilet available, with disabled access.
Entry to the church will be via the main doors and then exit through the side door. Doors and windows will be open to allow extra flow of fresh air through the building. Hand sanitizer must be used on entry and exit.
We would ask that if you or anyone in your household have any symptoms of Covid-19 that you do not come into the church.
For each of the sessions there will be at least two members of Christ Church on duty who will help with any queries and ensure that surfaces are cleaned after use, especially the chairs and the toilet. We would really appreciate offers of help going forward. If you feel able to volunteer to be on duty for one or several of the sessions please do get in touch with our churchwarden, Bryan Ashton. Thank you.
We look forward to soaking Christ Church once again with the sound of silent prayer!
