Join us for our Ash Wednesday service where we commit ourselves to the journey of Lent with its time of stripping back and going deeper with God, as we follow Jesus’ journey towards the Cross and on to the joy of Easter Sunday.
The practice of making the mark of the cross on the forehead with ash and oil goes back many centuries and reminds us of the death of Jesus and also our own “dying” to sin (wrongdoing) when we turn away from our old life to become his followers. The ash is sometimes prepared from palm crosses from the previous Palm Sunday, mixed with oil that has been prayed over.
