The yew tree in the churchyard at Christ Church Downend has stood for over 100 years and will have seen times of war and trouble as well as times of celebration and joy. This season come and tie a rbbon onto the tree as a prayer for a loved one or to remember those caught up in conflict in Ukraine and other countries around the world.
Ribbons will be available at the tree from 1st April.
Then come back on Easter Sunday or any time in Easter week with a flower to add to the display, as a sign of hope because love always wins.
Whilst at a conference at Christ Church Downend, Bristol on Saturday 21/5/22, the beautiful tree in the Churchyard was awe inspiring, it took my breath away as I entered the pathway to the church. Ribbons had been added to lower branches, on enquiry was told they form of the prayers of people.
It is obvious the tree has been cared for and l do hope will continue to amaze and feed the souls of many visitors like myself.
Thank you.
Thank you Jackie, for your kind comments. We pray that you’ll continue to be inspired to pray.
