A fantastic outdoor service followed by a fun afternoon for all.

When the churches in Downend, Mangotsfield  and Staple Hill get together, powerful things happen! All the churches get together to worship in the fresh air at King George V playing fields. Our guest speaker this year is Bishop Viv Faulls, the new Bishop of Bristol.  There will be music (this year from our own team); there will be puppets, there will be stories to inspire and to challenge.

After the service, tuck into your picnic, enjoy a free tea and cake at the refreshment tent, try out the different activities, watch the entertainment, mingle and meet old and new friends, bounce on the inflatables, visit the Prayer Tent, and enjoy life in all its fulness.

Invite your friends and neighbours: gather a wad of flyers from church and deliver to your neighbourhood. Arrange to meet friends there or bring them with you, for the whole day or for the fun afternoon. It is the most fantastic free event: so easy to invite people to!

How could you help to make this event all that God intends for it?  1. Pray! Pray for safety, for the organisers, for good weather, for the witness and message of the service, for the PA so that  everyone can hear; for people not used to church hearing the Gospel.  2. Set up: we will be asking for volunteers to help come and put up the tents and bunting and chairs etc any time from 6 am on the day. And/ or you might be able to stay till the end and help clear everything away. You might have a vehicle large enough to transport tables and chairs. You might be able to help at the Prayer Tent  3. Bake a cake and bring, preferably in packaging you don’t need returned, or else in a clearly labelled time with your name and Christ Church on it. 4. Volunteer for being a steward, a face painter, a general helper. 5. Be there and be salt and light to all you meet.

We look forward to seeing you there.
