Follow the last hours of Jesus’ journey to the cross on Good Friday.

This year you are invited to come to the churchyard at Christ Church Downend in your own time from 2 April to Easter Sunday 4 April and follow the trail to remember and reflect on the events of Good Friday. There will be instructions to guide you around the churchyard and activities to do at each stage. You will be able to imagine the anguish of Jesus’ prayers int he Garden of Gethsemane, the drama of the trial, the sorrow of the cross and the joy of the garden tomb.

At the centre of the trail stands the old yew tree which we are calling our Tree of Hope. White ribbons can be tied to the tree at any time from 20 March. in memory of a loved one or simply to be a symbol of your prayers.  See separate event Tree of Hope. From Easter sunday you are invited to bring a flower to add to our display, as a sign of hope.

If it is possible to hold any part of the trail inside the church by the time of the event, we will do so.

As you make your way around the churchyard, please take care onf uneven ground and keep distanced from others.  Use hand sanitiser before and after handling items.
