Make room for peace this December

We follow the Mexican tradition of bringing Mary and Joseph from house to house in December to invite families to prepare for Jesus coming at Christmas.

Only we don’t send real children round, as the Mexicans used to. instead, little wooden figures of Mary and Joseph are passed from family to family, along with ideas about what to do with them.

Some people invite friends or family round for tea and mince pies, and sing Away in a Manger together.  some make a special place for the figures in a window where passers by can see.

Some set up the figures at the table, light a candle and pray as a family for those who have no home.
