I bind unto myself today
the strong name of the Trinity,by invocation of the same,
the Three in One, and One in Three.
Of whom all nature hath creation;
eternal Father, Spirit, Word:
Praise to the Lord of my salvation,
salvation is of Christ the Lord.

Waking up to what feels like a very different world 3 words are on my heart for us all at Christ Church: Clarity, Courage and Kindness

Clarity about who God is – God is our strength and refuge, an ever present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46: 1). Whatever situation we are in we can be sure that the Lord is right there with us and his strength is able to equip us for the challenges ahead. So we choose to bind to ourselves the very nature of God.

Courage to face the day – so easily we could slip into becoming downhearted and introspective, yet with praise on our lips we go forward, thankful for the salvation Christ has graced us with, and confident in the God who has given us and all creation life in its fullness.

Kindness toward those around us – Jesus sees his Church as the Light of the World, strategically placed to bring hope through simple, sometimes sacrificial acts of kindness. Extra expressions of kindness are being seen already across the nations, and the opportunity is there right now for us to be part of this outpouring of grace.

May we embrace St Patrick’s prayer so that we face whatever the future holds with clarity, courage and kindness.

You are all in my ongoing prayers.
