We are piloting a World Vision Challenge at the end of the month

Jesus gave all his followers a challenge in Matthew 25 when he said, “I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink..”

The charity World Vision which works with some of the poorest people on earth, is throwing us a challenge here at Christ Church. Should you choose to accept, by means of a simple text or sign up, you will receive a daily practical challenge for 5 days via SMS – something practical and achievable but something to get you and your family thinking! Along with the challenge you’ll be sent inspiring stories and prayers and activities, all with the aim of helping you identify with what it’s like to live in someone else’s shoes.

It all starts with a text

Accept the challenge and join in by texting Matthew25 to 88080 and our church postcode BS16 5SG Or if you prefer, there are challenge cards which you can take home and follow. But I think it will be more fun to receive your challenge each day. We’ll all start on the same day, Monday 25th February, and do 5 challenges. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, could be something like, “The only drink you’re allowed to have today is water.” This should provoke some interesting discussions in your home but also as you go out and about for your daily life. You could share on social media what you’re up to, and record what it was like to get a glimpse of life for a child growing up in very different circumstances somewhere else in the world.

Celebration Sunday 3 March

At the end of the week you might have stories to share and we hope that children will be able to feedback how they found it and what they learnt. It might encourage us to do something positive such as sponsor a child or find out more about how we can support those working against poverty and injustice.

So are you up for the Matthew25 Challenge?
