At the start of 2019, Christ Church Downend made the bold decision to fling open their doors and invite the whole community to “Bounce into Church”. So on the last day of the school Christmas holidays, your local Church was filled with jumping children and happy parents. There was a  hospitality team serving toast and hot chocolate, there was a “life puzzle” to keep everyone occupied and various other toys & games were put out throughout the building.

“It was such a lovely atmosphere, and we were so blessed that so many came along.” Helen Buick Children’s Leader at Christ Church,” I’m really thankful for the Christ Church Youth team leaders who put up and manned their enormous bouncy castle, and we even had a tiny one for the really young ones too.” Since the re-opening of the newly refurbished Christ Church, there has been the desire to have lots of events which demand a flexible venue.

All over the Christmas season, we were hosting Carol Services, School Nativities, Christmas Services & the Downend Folk Club. Of course we would be delighted for anyone to come along to any of our regular midweek events or our Sunday Services. But our next big Family event will be at the start of February Half Term when we have a Children’s Party called “Orbitron” on Saturday 16 February at 2pm. Tickets for this event (£3 per Primary age child) are available online www.christchurchdownend.com or from our Parish Office.
