As we approach the General Election, we have received this letter from Justin Welby and John Sentamu, Archbishops of Canterbury & York. The whole letter is in the link below, but here is the final paragraph. They have asked that this letter is shared across the Church of England’s parishes and chaplaincies as they urge people to set aside “apathy and cynicism” and draw new inspiration from the ancient Christian virtues of “love, trust and hope”.
“We keep in our prayers all those who are standing in this election and are deeply grateful for their commitment to public service. All of us as Christians, in holding fast to the vision of abundant life, should be open to the call to renounce cynicism, to engage prayerfully with the candidates and issues in this election and by doing so to participate together fully in the life of our communities.”
