Christingles are models made from oranges, ribbons, sweets and candles. Each part has a special meaning. The orange represents the world, and the sweets represent the good gifts God has given us. The candle symbolises Jesus coming into our world. He said, “I am the light of the world.” The red ribbon around the orange is a symbol of the blood Jesus shed on the cross for us, as he died in order to make the way clear for us to have a relationship with God again.  By using Christingles and collecting donations we support The Children’s Society which protects and helps children in poverty in the UK.

Come and share Christ’s love with us at our annual Christingle services at 10.30am & 4pm at Christ Church Downend.

Please ask if you would like a special candle shaped collection box to collect small change for The Children’s Society. You can bring it along to the service.

Come and see faces of children and adults light up with hope this Advent.
