Friendship is flourishing between the residents at William Court & pupils at Christ Church Junior School thanks to the continuing visits from the CCJ Friendship Club. The group meet once a month for an hour of chatting, with a break for tea & biscuits. It’s a beautiful sight to see both the children’s and residents’ faces light up when they meet up each month. The club started a year ago as part of a Junior Soup project from Downend SOUP and although some of the original pupils have now moved up to Secondary School, new younger pupils have filled the gaps!
At our November chat we sang happy birthday to two members, one pupil was 9 the other was resident Sally who was 95! Helen Buick, Friendship Club co-ordinator says, “It is such a privilege to see these friendships blossoming, the children are keeping a photo diary of their visits, take notes on their chats too & we are always welcomed by House Manager Barbara Baker.”
